I couldn’t have asked for a better wedding to kick off wedding season 2017! All the way back in Norway, Karianne and Anders had an outdoor wedding ceremony in the garden of Sorenskrivergården, Hokksund that was so full of love, music and happiness.
The bride and groom chose (in their own words) a less charming venue at Klubbhus Falkbanen (a local sports club), to be able to host all the guests they wanted to invite, have food prepared from their favourite caterer, serve organic tap beer from Eiker Ølfabrikk and party all night long with no curfew. A brilliant compromise! Adding fairy lights and colourful pennants, and decorating the tables with beautiful wildflowers really made this sports club facility shine!
So much talent in one wedding day is hard to come by! Karianne knitted their children’s outfits, sowed the pennants, picked all the flowers (with some help from friends) and a majority of the guests and of course Anders had so much musical talent.
A shoutout to the suppliers from this wonderful wedding goes to Atelier V, Bergen for bridal shoes and altering of the Maggie Sottero and coutoure dresses, both bought second hand. Bridal bouquet and button holes from Kamille Blomster. Hair by Myhre Frisør. Bride did her own makeup. Groom had a suit from Corneliani from Hans H, Bergen. Their wedding cake was made by some good friends.
Lastly, I just want to emphasise how beautiful first looks are. More and more of my brides and grooms are having photos taken before their ceremony, and for good reason.
One – you get to go straight from your ceremony to meet and greet with your guests for an uninterrupted reception. No waiting around for your guests while you run off to the woods. Two – you get a moment alone of pure excitement and natural emotions, all to yourself. You don’t have to share the first look with anyone (but me), and these make for wonderfully natural pictures of you two together. Have a look further down in this wedding story for images from Karianne and Anders’ first look.
