This Dumtochty (try and say that out loud fast) castle wedding, was like being in a real fairy tale! This is one of my favourite venues to date. Gorgeous grounds, castle, weather, church and friends and family from near and far, made this day extra special for Solveig and Dougie, and their wee daughter Isla of course.
Solveig, our Norwegian bride, and Dougie, our Scottish groom, fittingly had a big wedding in a Scottish highland castle with guests wearing their respective national costumes (kilts and bunads) to set the scene!
Just simple touches were needed to decorate the magnificent castle interior. Golden silverware on the tables, crystal glasses, with DIY flower decorations on high candelabres, were all that was needed to personalise the stunning dining hall. It’s already decorated with stags and wolves (Game of Thrones, anyone?), and uniquely decorated rooms that guests could use as they wish.
I met Dougie, his best man and fathers for clay pigeon shooting in the morning, before joining Solveig and her bridesmaids getting ready, flying from room to room in their bunads and taking care of the extraordinarily well behaved little Isla as they went. We then drove for a minute down the road to witness their wedding wovs in the local church, and then headed back up for fun speeches, and ceilidh dancing into the night.
Here I’ve made a story from their wedding photos, using my favourites from the day. I hope you like having a scroll through them! I certainly enjoyed every moment of making them.
