Windy Wedding at the Norwegian West Coast

September 21, 2017

It started out to be a pretty rainy, windy and possibly gloomy day in Stavanger on 19th August. Our bride and groom didn’t let this stop them from pursuing a beach photo shoot after their ceremony in Stavanger, and were rewarded by all kinds of weather, mostly including NO RAIN! Which is a pretty big deal on the west coast of Norway.

Hilde + Thomas wanted a urban feel wedding with hints of ocean, beach and marine life. Their love for water, either swimming or kayaking, drew these parallells to the theme of their day. They celebrated with focus on having a good time for all guests, with beer flowing freely on tap at a seaside industrial location in Jåttåvågen, Stavanger.

As a high school friend of Hilde, and long time friend of her maid of honour, I was both a photographer and guest at this wedding, which is why I only photographed half-day and then enjoyed relaxing and chatting with other guests until I later stepped in to capture the first dance (because it’s my favourite moment of the day). Oh, and did you know 19th August is also my birthday? Since I love my job so much, I don’t really mind photographing and being at an awesome party at the same time, even if the day isn’t about me at all.

Shoutout to the vendors making this day special: wedding dress from Leila Hafzi, dinner and dancing at Fjordpiren, Jåttåvågen, flowers from Finn Schjøll Kvadrat. Bride and bridesmaids did their own hair and makeup, and friends provided music for their ceremony.
