A city centre wedding in Glasgow
Amy & Gemma got married at the gorgeous Cottiers. Cottiers perfect for a city centre wedding in Glasgow! It’s got that cathedral vibe, while still allowing any type of ceremony to be held. Amy & Gemma had a humanist ceremony with lots of personal touches, such as a reading by a family friend, hand-fasting, drinking from the quaich, and a lovely gesture I’ve not seen before: they re-applied their engagement rings as a second ring-exchange. It symbolised the promise they had made to each other on the day they agreed to marry.
Glasgow Botanic Gardens Wedding Photos
Cottiers is so close to the Glasgow Botanic Gardens that many couples choose to go there for photos – and for good reason. Remember though, if you choose to go there, you have to get a permit and arrange a time slot. The botanic gardens are brilliant for any weather (although a sunny, hot day can be scorching inside the glasshouses – so prepare to get sweaty). But seeing as it mostly rains in the entrepreneurial capital of the UK, it’s a perfect location to get shelter while enjoying natural light and beautiful vegetation. I love the soft light and the colours, too!
First look and preparations together
I absolutely love a first look, and a few of my couples did this in 2019. Amy & Gemma also got ready together but chose to get their dresses on in separate rooms. After they were both ready, we arranged a meeting spot in an alley outside for their first look.
We’re both on a massive high after looking through the photos and selecting our favourites – they really are stunning!
